Environmental Global Issues

“In fact, all creation is eagerly waiting for God to show who his children are.      Meanwhile, creation is confused, but not because it wants to be confused. God made it this way in the hope that creation would be set free from decay and would share in the glorious freedom of his children. We know that all creation is still groaning and is in pain, like a woman about to give birth.”  Romans 8:19 -22  (CEV)

Brief Discussion or Introduction

What are the global issues confronting us today?   What is our response as God’s children to the care of God’s creation?  How can one person make a difference to an issue like climate change?

Prayer Ideas for using the map on wall

Place the map on the wall within reach so people are able to place something on the map. Provide post-it notes around your meeting area for participants to write their prayer and then invite them to stick their prayer onto the map as they leave the meeting.

Prayer Ideas for using the map on the floor

Place a tarpaulin or waterproof mat beneath the map with the edges slightly raised so no water will spread onto the floor surface.  Give participants an ice-cube each and ask them to place it on the map in a place where climate change is causing problems.  As they place their ice-cube suggest they make their own stand by doing what they can in their place regarding climate change.
